Level of unemployment remains at 2.2 percent

As of 1 January, the average level of unemployment in Switzerland amounted to 2.8 per cent, compared with 2.7 per cent the month before.

However, according to these figures published by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the level in Zug is only 2.2 per cent, the same as in December

As to the other central Swiss cantons, the level of unemployment rose by 0.1 per cent in the cantons of Lucerne (to 1.9 per cent), Schwyz (to 1.4 per cent) and Obwalden (to 0.9 per cent), this latter canton having the lowest level in the whole country.

The highest increase was recorded by the canton of Uri, where its level is now 1.3 per cent, compared with 1.1 per cent in December. As in Zug, the level in Nidwalden (1.1 per cent) remained the same as in December.
