Last weekend’s news roundup

Two rescue missions on Lake Zug

Last Wednesday, 10 October, shortly after 5.45pm, the mission control centre of the Zug police received a report that a sailboat was adrift in front of the lido in Cham. The water rescue unit of the Zug fire brigade was able to recover the boat and haul it safely into the boat harbour, as the Zug police informs.

One day later, on Thursday morning, yet another mission at the same location. In this case, a motorboat had to be salvaged and re-attached to a buoy. The Zug police and the fire brigade ask all boat owners to moor their boats properly and check regularly. According to the Inland Navigation Ordinance, stationary boats must be securely anchored or moored, as to withstand the waves and the pull of navigating ships. Changes in water levels must also be accounted for.
