Zuwebe opens restaurant in Bösch industrial area

The Zuwebe has been running the Schlosserei restaurant at Zuwebe's Bösch 57 location in Hünenberg since Monday, January 27. The new restaurant is open to guests from Monday to Friday.

New life has returned to the former locksmith's workshop of the Zuwebe. The organisation now reports that the “Schlosserei” restaurant is now open to welcome both employees from its own company and external guests. The new restaurant (www.restaurant-schlosserei.ch) creates attractive, protected training and workplaces in an exciting environment, close to the main job market. Five people with mental or psychological disabilities work in the restaurant, along with a trainee. They are supported in their work by four gastronomic specialists.

The aim of the Zuwebe is to increase the number of protected jobs by two to three during the year. Zuwebe (www.zuwebe.ch) is a social organization in the canton of Zug, in which more than 250 people with mental or psychological disabilities find training, housing and work in various areas.

The Zuwebe is convinced that the new restaurant meets the needs of employees in the Bösch commercial area. Together with the steady growth of the Bösch area, the demand for another healthy and varied catering offer has increased. "We are very pleased that our new restaurant will not only create added value for our employees, but also for external guests," says Michael Furrer, Head of Zuwebe Gastronomie, in the media release.

The new restaurant is located in the former locksmith's workshop at Bösch 57 in Hünenberg. The history of the premises was taken into account when designing the new restaurant, with existing elements of the former workshop being integrated into the appearance of the restaurant, supplemented with some new elements. Rustic furniture and a shipping container in which the cooking takes place give the restaurant a very special look. The name has also remained, but, from now on, knives and forks will be used instead of anvils and irons. Like the Zuwebe’s Restaurant Story in Baar, the Schlosserei is a modern self-service and take-away restaurant, and offers a wide range of snacks and meals: from crispy salads to wok dishes and snacks for in-between.

Catering for guests has become an important working area for the Zuwebe in recent years. The catering sector offers a wide range of options for integrating people with disabilities into the work process. In the meantime, the Zuwebe produces up to 1,000 meals a day. In addition to its own 4 catering locations, the institution cooks lunches for the schools in Baar and supplies various companies with a balanced lunch menu every day.
