Zugerberg Bahn to transport students and residents

The Zugerberg mountain railway has been closed since 18 March 2020, but will now be partially restarting its operations. From 18 May, the students of the Montana Institute and residents of the Zugerberg will be transported by train again. Tourist traffic remains prohibited, however.

Within the framework of the Zug tariff network, the Zugerberg Bahn provides the public transport access to the Zugerberg. This commission has been continued by means of bus service replacing the mountain railway. According to the press release of the Zugerberg Bahn, the Zugerberg Bahn will once again take over this function again from 18 May, and will transport students of the Montana Institute, as well as local residents, to the Zugerberg. Tourist traffic will remain suspended, however. Hikers, bikers or families may not be transported. The Zugerberg Bahn will operate a reduced timetable, adapted to the needs of the Montana Institute and the residents of the Zugerberg.  The minimum basic access for residents has been ensured by a bus since 18 March.

Safe on the Zugerberg Railway

The Zugerberg mountain railway is implementing the national protection measures in connection with the Corona crisis. The protection concept for public transport, which was developed by the Federal Office of Transport (FOV), the SBB and Postauto and enters into force on 11 May, will be fully implemented, states the press release. The Zugerberg Railway is cleaned daily and the handrails and buttons are regularly disinfected. The hygiene and distance rules are adhered to, and ticket sales will not be available from the counter.
