Young shoplifter puts up struggle as he is arrested

A 20-year-old man did his best to resist arrest after he was caught shoplifting by plain clothes officers on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened shortly after 7.30 am as the officers noticed the young man stealing food from a shop on Bahnhofsplatz.  When he was detained on leaving the shop, he was verbally aggressive towards the officers and strongly resisted when he was asked to identify himself. Fortunately, other police officers arrived and he was able to be restrained.

In addition to charges of stealing he now faces those of resisting arrest and threatening and menacing behaviour towards police officers while they carried out their duty.
