WWZ to lower electricity and gas prices
The Zug-based energy supplier WWZ will reduce electricity prices by an average of 25% as of 1st January 2026, according to a recent statement from the company
Gas prices from the WWZ (Waterworks Zug) across all segments will also fall by up to 0.8 Rappen per kilowatt hour on 1st October 2025. Grid usage tariffs, feed-in tariffs for photovoltaic systems and guarantees of origin will also be adjusted.
According to the energy supplier, the tariff reductions are due to lower purchase prices, ‘which are now being passed on directly to consumers in the form of lower tariffs’. The reduction in energy tariffs is also based on the agreement reached with Alpiq and the associated reimbursement to WWZ.

The price of electricity will fall in 2026, with the extent of the reduction varying depending on the customer segment. For an average four-person household with an annual consumption of 4,500 kilowatt hours, the total costs with WWZ natural electricity will fall by 25.6%, which corresponds to around CHF 340 per year.
For small businesses, the costs will be reduced by 30.2 per cent. The electricity price is made up of the costs for energy, for the use of the grid, for metering costs and levies.
