WWZ gives the all-clear for one part of the city

According to the WWZ, the measures against drinking water pollution are having an effect. But not everywhere.

The water quality in the Neustadtpassage and Neustadtcenter area of the city of Zug is once again impeccable, according to a statement from the water supplier WWZ on Tuesday afternoon.

The recommendations to boil drinking water remain in place for the areas of the Vorstadt and the old town, as well as the remaining part of the Neustadt area (from Disaster bay to the railway tracks): Drinking water must continue to be boiled there. This thereby still affects 1,800 consumers, or almost 1,000 households. The WWZ has, as yet, made no comment on the causes of the contamination.

Apparent decrease in the amount of pollution
According to Tuesday’s press release, the company's specialists "continue to work intensively to restore the high drinking water quality as quickly as possible". The "provisional results" of the latest samples showed a decrease in contamination.

Further information is expected on Wednesday afternoon., WWZ employees will again distribute free water bottles to the affected population on Wednesday: from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Landsgemeindeplatz and at the Rigiplatz/Reiffergässli playground.
