Woman seriously assaulted by her husband

A man physically assaulted and injured his wife in Oberägeri, with the woman having to be taken to hospital with serious injuries. The alleged perpetrator was arrested after a manhunt by the police.
 

Shortly after 2 am on Wednesday morning (2nd July), the Zug Police received a report that a man had assaulted his wife. A large contingent of emergency and rescue personnel immediately rushed to the family's home, where they found a seriously injured woman. After receiving initial medical treatment, the 43-year-old Polish national was taken to hospital, according to a statement from the Zug Police on Thursday.

There were also two children in the premises at the time of the incident. According to police report, one of them suffered minor injuries during the altercation.

Husband arrested
The statement adds that the aggressor was no longer at the scene when the police arrived,. An immediate search for the 41-year-old Norwegian was launched, and the police forces of the surrounding cantons were informed. This led to the suspect's car being found in the Biberbrugg area in canton Schwyz on early Wednesday morning.

In cooperation with the Zug Police, the Schwyz cantonal police thereby intensified the search for the perpetrator in this area. A helicopter, drones, search dogs and members of the Luchs special unit were deployed.

The wanted man was finally spotted in the Oberägeri area at around 11 am, and was arrested. The further investigation into the exact circumstances of the crime and the motive is ongoing under the direction of the Zug Cantonal Public Prosecutor's office.
