Woman on pedestrian crossing hit by inebriated driver


A driver who was under the influence of alcohol hit a woman on a pedestrian crossing. The pedestrian was injured, and had to be taken to hospital.

The accident occurred shortly before 6:45 p.m. on Sunday evening (19 June 2022) on the Bundesplatz in the city of Zug. A 60-year-old pedestrian was crossing the Alpenstrasse on the pedestrian crossing when she was hit head-on by a car. The pedestrian was injured and had to be taken to hospital after receiving initial medical first aid on site from the Zug Ambulance Service.

The breath alcohol test carried out on the 49-year-old driver was positive. The public prosecutor's office of the canton of Zug then ordered that he should provide a blood and urine sample in the hospital. The driver's license was taken from the man for the attention of the administrative authority (Road Traffic Office).
