Woman from Zug celebrates her 101st birthday

On Friday, 3rd February 2023, Doris Zürcher celebrated her 101st birthday at the Herti retirement centre. André Wicki, President of the City of Zug, brought congratulations from the City Council and a gift.

It was a visibly joyful and moving moment for the jubilarian when she received the congratulations of the city council from city president (StadtpräsidentAndré Wicki, in the presence of the husband of a niece and two grandnieces, the Herti Centre manager Patrizia Hotz and fellow residents of the Herti old people's centre. This was also reported in a press release from the city of Zug.

With an alert eye and a lot of humour, Doris Zürcher then told of her eventful and eventful life. The trained baby-care nurse thereby completed the military recruit school during the Second World War, spent some time looking after her godson in New York and worked in the Kolin Pharmacy and in a doctor's office for many years as a medical practice assistant.

She was also very active In her free time, with skiing and in two gymnastics clubs. When asked if there was a secret to reaching such a ripe old age in good health and with an alert mind, she replied after a moment's thought: "A Metaxa every now and then before going to sleep."
