What happens when a creator abandons his creation
Childlike in his innocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein’s bewildered creature is cast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting with cruelty wherever he goes, the increasingly desperate and vengeful Creature determines to track down his creator and strike a terrifying deal. This powerful adaptation, which premiered at the National Theatre in London under the direction of Danny Boyle, promises a haunting exploration of creation, responsibility, and what it truly means to be human.
The dress rehearsal of the play “Frankenstein”, performed in English by the Zurich English Speaking Theatre (ZEST), took place on Tuesday evening in the Theater im Seefeld, before a small audience consisting of club members. The atmospheric and intense performance left a lasting impression on the viewers, who were transported back to the Gothic world of Mary Shelley.
The play was directed by Katherine Ankudinov, and included authentic period costumes, an outstanding performance by Sina Develioglu as the Creature and a clearly well-rehearsed cast. The music for the play was created and performed by members of ZEST, under the musical direction of club president Oli Pont.
