Waste container catches fire

On Monday morning, December 16, shortly before 5:30 a.m., the Zug police command centre received a report that a house was burning in Eichli, in the municipality of Oberägeri,.

The emergency services were immediately mobilised and, when arriving at the site, found that it was not a house that was on fire, but the contents of a disposal container in a construction site. The Oberägeri fire department was able to quickly extinguish the open fire, and nobody was injured.

According to the investigations so far, the waste container may have caught fire on its own due to several rags that had been disposed of after having been soaked of in oil. Around 70 members of the Oberägeri fire brigade were deployed, as well as employees of the Zug emergency services and the Zug police.
