Violence at B-junior game between Adligenswil and Rotkreuz

There were unsightly scenes in the closing stages if the B-junior match between SV Adligenswil/Meggen and FC Rotkreuz. The reports of the two clubs are quite different from each other.

The SV Adligenswil/Meggen had turned a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 lead in the 88th and 94th minute. This victory would ensure the promotion of the team to the Coca-Cola Junior League. In the case of an away win or a draw, Rotkreuz would have been promoted. One player from each side was then sent off (red card) in the 75th minute.

What exactly happened on and off the field is unclear. The descriptions of the two clubs on are wide apart. A statement by the FC Rotkreuz says: "After the 1:1, our players were attacked on the field by opposing fans, as well as by the C-junior coach of Adligenswil." In a video, you can even see a man running onto the field and grabbing a Rotkreuz player by the neck.

FC Rotkreuz has protested against the rating of the game, as confirmed by President Claudio Carbone. "I don’t know any details, but I've heard that it was not that dramatic. We will first discuss what exactly happened with the parties involved. I have not yet signed the protest. "The executive committee of FC Rotkreuz would have to confirm the protest by tomorrow Wednesday.

In a statement, the SV Adligenswil/Meggen writes that the events "demonstrably did not taken place as described by FC Rotkreuz". With reference to the ongoing protest, they do not want to make any further comments. Some eyewitnesses have made comments to Regiofussball.ch, however. The violence only started after the 2: 1, when children ran cheering on the field of play, and were turned over by Rotkreuz players. It then came to insults and physical attacks between players and spectators.

Spectators and parents of the players also involved

Markus Berwert, Head of Office of the Central Swiss Football Association (IFV), confirmed the protest of FC Rotkreuz on request. Both clubs, but also players and coaches, would now have until Friday to submit a detailed statement. "The penal commission will then decide what sanctions will be imposed," says Berwert. The opinion of the referee has already been received by the association: he did not mention anything about this in his report.

According to Berwert, events like the one in Adligenswil are isolated cases. Rotkreuz President Carbone meanwhile appeals to the parents: "Such incidents sadden me. Children just want to play and enjoy football.”

"Many parents seem to think that their children are playing in the Champions League. They have no business being so close to the pitch."

Four years ago, the IFV launched the "parents away from the sidelines" campaign. This is primarily aimed at people involved in children's football, however.
