Two traffic incidents on Sunday

At the intersection of the Feldstrasse and the Baarerstrasse, a taxi collided with a car that had right of way. The occupants of the car were thereby injured and there was considerable damage to property. In a second incident, an inebriated woman was seen driving dangerously on the A4 motorway.

A traffic accident occurred between two cars near the junction of the Feldstrasse and the Baarerstrasse in the city of Zug at 10 p.m on Sunday, 3rd January. An Uber driver was driving along the Feldstrasse, coming from the Nordstrasse, in the direction of Baarerstrasse, according to the report from the Zug police. At the same time, a female motorist was driving along the Baarerstrasse, heading towards Zug.

The taxi driver ignored the right-of-way, and crashed into the right side of the woman’s car, which was rotated about its own axis by the force of the impact. The 40-year-old female driver and the 27-year-old passenger were slightly injured. They were treated by the Zug ambulance service and then taken to hospital for checks. The taxi driver and his passenger were uninjured, apart from the shock. Both vehicles had to be towed away, and the property damage amounting to more than CHF 20,000.

On Sunday, 3 January, after 2 p.m., several reports reached the emergency control centre that a car was weaving about on the A4 motorway from Lucerne towards Zurich. Witnesses testified that the driver weaved in and out of both traffic lanes, and even onto the hard shoulder. A police patrol managed to stop the motorist after she left the motorway near Alpenblick in Cham.

A breathalyser test showed a positive value of 0.74 mg/l, according to the Zug police. The 44-year-old German national’s driver's license was confiscated and sent to the administrative authority (Road Traffic Office), and she was banned from continuing her journey. The investigations revealed that the driver had already caused several minor collisions on her journey, including hitting a construction site barrier at the Gisikon exit (LU), the guardrail while driving past Rotkreuz, and a lane edge marker post at the Cham/Steinhausen exit. The police are now looking for witnesses: any drivers who had to brake or take evasive action due to the driving style of this motorist are asked to contact the Control Centre of the Zug Police (telephone 041 728 41 41).
