Two illegal women workers arrested in gambling den

The Zug law enforcement authorities detected several prosecutable offences during an inspection in a Zug clubhouse. Two women were arrested, fined and deported from Switzerland. Charges have been filed against the operator.

The inspection by the Zug law enforcement authorities actually took place on Tuesday evening, 26 November 2019, in a club in the Baar municipality. Portable devices for carrying out unapproved sports bets were found in the premises, and several thousand Swiss francs in cash were secured, according to the report from the Zug police.

Two 23 and 27-year-old women from Serbia were arrested. Thy had been working illegally as service employees and did not have the required work permit. The report added that conditional fine had been mposed on the two women in summary proceedings of the Zug prosecutor's office.

The Office for Migration ordered the deportation of the women from Switzerland, which then took place on Friday morning, 29 November. The two Serbs were also banned from re-entering Switzerland and the Schengen area for two years. The operator of the clubhouse, who is originally from Macedonia, is suspected of having offered illegal sports betting on the premises. The 41-year-old will have to answer to the public prosecutor of the Canton of Zug. He is accused of violations of the Gaming Law and the Immigration and Integration Act.
