Tuning Meet at the Stierenmarkt - with consequences
A huge Tuning Meet took place in the city of Zug on Saturday. But the Zug Police also turned up and took several cars to the Road Traffic Office for inspection, and impounded a number of them.
An authorised Tuning Meet that took place at the Stierenmarkt grounds in the city of Zug on Saturday, 2nd May, attracted car enthusiasts from several cantons. Ultimately 350 ‘souped-up’ sports cars were present, according to a press release from the Zug Police on Monday.
In addition to car enthusiasts, the Zug Police also took an interest in this gathering. In cooperation with specialists from the Zug Cantonal Road Traffic Office (Strassenverkehrsamt), officers from the rapid response and traffic police (Bereitschafts- und Verkehrspolizei) carried out technical inspections on 30 of the cars throughout the whole day, according to the press release.

Four vehicles were thereby impounded due to modified exhaust systems, and the faulty parts were removed, according to the report by the Zug Police. Five more sports cars were also impounded. The reason: there was a suspicion that these vehicles had undergone illegal software tuning of their control units. Three other vehicles that were inspected were found to be in a non-compliant condition.
The drivers involved in the violations are men between the ages of 20 and 53 from the cantons of Zug, Aargau, St. Gallen, Solothurn, Graubünden, Bern, and Zurich. They will all be charged, and will have to present their vehicles for inspection again at their respective road traffic offices.
