Trapped construction worker dies in hospital
A ceiling element fell onto a small excavator on 24th October. A worker who was trapped in the driver's cab has now died in hospital.
A ceiling element fell onto a small excavator during demolition work on a construction site in the Baarermatte shortly before 7:45 am on Friday morning, 24th October. A 50-year-old construction worker was thereby trapped in the cab of the small excavator, according to a statement from the Zug police.
The injured man was freed by his colleagues and transported out of the danger zone. After receiving initial medical treatment from the Zug Ambulance Service, the construction worker had to be rescued from the roof of the construction site using a Baar fire brigade aerial ladder platform.

The 50-year-old man, who had suffered life-threatening injuries, was then flown by the Rega to a hospital outside the canton. Six days after the accident, the Zug law enforcement authorities have announced that the man succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital on Tuesday.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Zug Cantonal Public Prosecutor's Office. The Zug police forensic service carried out extensive evidence collection at the scene.
35 emergency personnel on site
A total of 35 members of the Baar fire brigade and the Zug fire brigade (FFZ: Freiwillige Feuerwehr Zug), together with employees of the Zug Rescue Service, the Rega, Suva and several members of the Zug Police were involved in the operation. The Zug Care Team was also called in to look after the other construction workers who witnessed the accident.
