Traditional event attracts around 500 hiking enthusiasts

The March around Lake Zug was held for the 55th time last weekend.

One could hardly have wished for better conditions for the traditional March around Lake Zug. The 55th edition of this special event took place in beautiful spring conditions on Saturday, 25th April, with each participant covering almost 40 kilometres on foot. The annual circumnavigation of the lake is organised by the Zug Non-Commissioned Officers' Association (UOV: Unteroffiziersverein Zug) together with the Zug Cantonal Military Motorists' Association (Militär-Motorfahrer-Gesellschaft).

Around 500 participants gathered in the late morning at the athletics stadium in the Zuger Allmend. They were then transported to the starting point in Schönegg by military vehicles, from where the route led along the slopes of the Zugerberg and Walchwilerberg mountains to Arth.

The section to Immensee was also covered by vehicle, before the march led back to the starting point via Chiemen, Buonas, and Cham.
