The Zytturm is open to the public again
The people of Zug have had to wait a long time before they can not only admire the Zytturm from the outside, but also from the inside again.
The historic Zytturm. a landmark of the city of Zug, has been technically upgraded. But instead of nine months, the comprehensive interior renovation took almost a year and a half before it was finally completed and the 42-metre-high historic tower could be opened again. As announced by the city in a written statement on Friday, Zug's landmark re-opened its doors again with an open day from 2 to 5 pm on the 2nd November, and the people of Zug are now able to view the newly renovated gem.
The renovation work was carried out in close consultation with the historic preservation authorities, and focused primarily on fire protection and safety issues, striking a balance between today's safety standards and the historical value of the 13th-century tower, according to the statement.
The electrical installations were renewed and were laid more discreetly, while retaining the character of the interior. The windows were replaced with fire-resistant glass, while clear signage and open doors with access control ensure better escape routes.

The number of visitors will in future be limited to a maximum of 20 people– also for safety reasons, and access is now only possible with a key or via an app and instruction.
The app also functions as a key
The key to the Zytturm can be picked up free of charge at the ‘Wunderbox’ shop, just around the corner from the Zytturm passageway. Alternatively, access can be gained using the e-Zug app – as is already possible for the Zug Library during off-peak hours.
