The Zuger Messe trade fair will not be held in 2020

Against the background of the Corona-related uncertainty, the managers of the Zuger Messe have examined various scenarios and alternatives in recent weeks. They have finally decided on a cancellation.

The Zuger Messe (Zug annual trade fair) will not take place in 2020. Even after consultation with the authorities, the assessment of the opportunities and risks showed that a successful implementation would not possible due to the corona situation, the organisers informed today.

Following the Zuger Messe in 2019, with 80,000 visitors over 9 days and more than 420 exhibitors, the omens for this year's edition of the popular and traditional autumn fair were very good. Numerous special shows were planned and the number of reservations for the exhibitor spaces was "very pleasing," the statement continues.

The Zuger Messe will not reopen its doors until 2021.

The"People's festival character" would not have been possible
The developments surrounding the corona virus have presented the trade fair management with the question of whether it would be responsible to hold the Zuger Messe from 24 October to 1 November 2020. "The Zuger Messe thrives on an interesting and varied mix of exhibitors and on the character of the experience and folk festival," the announcement reads. The Corona-related measures would make it impossible to carry out the trade fair within the usual framework.

The trade fair management is pleased that the host region for this year, Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis, has agreed to appear as part of the Zuger Messe 2021, as well as the special shows bySwiss Cheese, Crypto Valley, the Zug Police and the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation.
