The Waldstock celebrates an anniversary

The ticket sales have opened and helpers can already register; From July 31 to August 3, the popular Waldstock Open Air will take place on an idyllic meadow on the edge of the Steinhausen Forest. But this year it is a very special edition of the festival, because it will be taking place for the 20th time.
The anniversary program is correspondingly varied. For example, festival visitors can look forward to Steiner & Madlaina on Thursday at 7 p.m. The two women enchant with finely arranged indie folk pop and are rightly being traded as a new jewel in the Swiss pop scene. Another highlight of the day is at 9 p.m., with Jenny and the Mexicats, who the organisers tell us, are something special when seen live. They combine the rhythms of jazz, rockabilly, folk, flamenco, reggae, Veracruz, country and cumbia into an inimitable experience.

With a powerful beat

On Friday evening, visitors can look forward to the band The Eskies, who rock through everything danceable with a powerful beat and polyphonic singing. Bukahara appear during the night. The four musicians from three continents are appearing at Waldstock once again. The versatile voices and songs of the band create a magical attraction. The well-known author, cabaret artist and linguist Bänz Friedli will appear on Saturday, when the band Afriquoi will be on stage during the evening. This London quintet combines African melodies, harmonies and rhythms with electronic dance music.

There will also be a children’s afternoon from noon on Saturday 3. August, during which games and fun for the whole family will be organised by the Blauring, the Jungwacht und Steinhausen scouts. The Waldstock Open Air starts om Wednesday evening at 7.30 p.m. As stated by the organisers, the whole festival runs under the slogan “Back To The Roots”.
