The Pope enjoys Zuger Kirschtorte
Pope Leo XIV has received mail from Zug – a Zuger Kirschtorte Zug cherry cake.
As the Treichler confectionery company (Konditorei Treichler ) in Zug recently reported, managing director Philip Heini sent a package to the Vatican, accompanied by a letter from Felix Horber, president of the Zug Cantonal Association for Business and Society (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft). In doing this, he followed a previous tradition: Pope Francis received a Zuger Kirschtorte (Zug cherry cake) from a Swiss Guard from Zug.

An autograph from the Pope can be seen at the Konditorei Treichler
The confirmation of receipt and an Easter prayer card Photos supplied
Confirmation arrived from Rome a few days ago: the cake had been presented to the Holy Father. Pope Leo XIV, through his private secretary. The pope expressed his gratitude with a personally addressed letter, in English, conveyed his apostolic blessing, and enclosed a signed prayer card. This correspondence is now on display at the Zug Cherry Cake Museum (Kirschtorten-Museum) in the Treichler shop on the Bundesplatz in Zug.
We applaud Pope Leo XIV for his openness towards Zug's culinary cultural heritage.
