The local industry presents itself

For three days, the Waldmannhalle in Baar opened its doors for the ninth SME exhibition.

The Baar SME Exhibition (KMU-Ausstellung) normally takes place in March. Due to corona pandemic, however, the organisation committee under the leadership of trade association president Arno Matter decided to postpone the exhibition until June.

The exhibition thereby took place from Friday to Sunday of last week. "We are pleased that we could make a contribution to social life in the community with the SME exhibition," explained Arno Matter. He also emphasized: "The entrepreneurs were able to establish contacts with the population and show a presence in the market. This gives the companies a face again."

The unusual dates had a strong impact on the registrations of the exhibitors, however. Around 100 companies from Baar took part in the last edition of the SME exhibition in 2019. There were about fifty this year. "This year's three-day trade fair is no less attractive, however," emphasized Matter. "Quite the contrary, as we have combine our trade fair with a food truck ‘happening’. The local trade in Baar and the culinary offerings complement each other in an ideal way."

Things were not only offered in the hall
The population of Zug strolled from stand to stand in the air-conditioned Waldmannhalle. Some exhibitors drew attention to themselves with creative competitions, and thereby came into contact with the trade fair audience. The latest attractions of the car market were also presented in the Waldmannhalle. Banks and insurance companies, as well as travel agencies and companies from the design and food industry presented their services and offers.

In addition to the trade exhibition, the above-mentioned food truck happening awaited on the parking area in front of the Waldmannhalle, with culinary attractions from all over the world. There was plenty to eat, from mini donuts to veggie momos, and, of course, the local Baar beer was also present. Thanks to sunny weather on Saturday, the happening was a highlight that was gladly taken up by the local population.

For Arno Matter, it was important that the SME trade fair could take place again.

"A cancellation was not an option for us. After two years of Covid measures, we considered it extremely important to hold major events again, and to make a contribution to social life in Baar."

Religious service with music
Even the little ones got their money's worth at the exhibition, with a large bouncy castle, a trampoline and other play opportunities being available in one of the Wiesental gyms (Wiesental Turnhalle). The second gym offered a "religious service in the fair" on Sunday. The Reformed pastor Vroni Stähli held the divine service in the morning, which was musically accompanied by the Vocal Monday formation from Baar .

This will the last major event to take place in the Wiesental gyms, as they are to be demolished during the school summer holidays. A new school building with a triple gym will be built on this site by the summer of 2025.
