The Hafenrestaurant will be closed for several weeks

After 20 years of operation, renovations are pending at the Hafenrestaurant in Zug. The closure will take place in 2022.

The Hafenrestaurant was constructed in 2000 as part of the new Lakeside Design around the Hafenplatz in Zug, and has enjoyed increasing popularity ever since. According to a statement from the city, however, the operational processes are increasingly reaching the limits of their capacity. "After 20 years of operation, various technical installations and devices have reached the end of their service life, and no longer meet today's needs." The legal requirements for safety and hygiene have also changed in the meantime.

The necessary renovation and conversion work will be carried out in stages, with the first stage running from 13 September to the end of December 2021. This work will include the storage area in the basement and the sewerage system, with pump sump and grease trap. The Hafenrestaurant will remain open during this period, however.

The renovation work in the interior will then take place from January to April 2022, and will include a new catering kitchen as well as cooling, storage and ancillary rooms. The Hafenrestaurant will have to be closed during this second stage.
