The duo Betschart/Hüberli impress in Russia

Nina Betschart from Steinhausen and her Schwyz teammate Tanja Hüberli experienced a pleasing premiere in Sochi. For the first time in their career, they reached the final at a tournament in the four-star category. Unfortunately, they lost to the Americans Claes/Sponcil with 0:2 in the final.

Nevertheless, joy prevailed – including at the Swiss Association. "Nina and Tanja showed a great performance in the whole tournament. and only lost one set up to the final. And they also had their chances in the final. They were ahead in the first set with 19:18, before little details began to make the difference," said the women's national coach Christoph Dieckmann in a statement.

Despite their defeat, the Central Swiss women are happy about playing in their first final at a tournament in the four-star category.

Two tournaments leading up to the season's highlight
Betschart/Hüberli, with their fourth place in the 2019 World Championships and winners of the 2018 European Championship silver medal, will be in action from tomorrow at the four-star tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic. This will be followed by the home tournament in Gstaad (6 to 11 July), before the two go to the Olympic Games in Beijing.
