The Creatower 1 construction plan has been finalised

The planning application for Creatower I has now been submitted to the Stadthaus Zug.

According to the client - Tech Cluster Zug AG - a new concrete technology will be used that will enable CO2 savings of more than 30%.

Old bicycle and moped shelters and a car park still dominate the scene on the corner of the Industriestrasse and the Ahornstrasse. But in just a few years' time, Creatower I is to be built here - in the centre of the Tech Cluster Zug, on the site of the traditional V-Zug company. The planning application has now been submitted to Zug Town Hall (Stadthaus).

According to the client, Tech Cluster Zug AG, the VZ Depotbank will move into the 40-metre-high building with 450 workstations, and a restaurant with seating for up to 100 people will be built on the ground floor and will be open to the public. It is not yet clear who will run the restaurant in future.

Leading the way in sustainability
Sustainability is a key aspect in the planning of the office building and the entire Tech Cluster Zug. The roof of the building will be greened, and solar modules are planned for both the roof and the façade. Heating is provided by the site's CO2-neutral district heating.

According to the client, the use of the so-called Rippmann Floor System (RFS), a low-emission ceiling construction that will form part of the building's load-bearing structure, is particularly innovative.

The prefabricated concrete elements from the ETH spin-off company Vaulted AG are just 6.5 centimetres thick, and can bridge spans of up to 6 metres without additional steel reinforcement. This significantly reduces material consumption compared to conventional reinforced concrete ceilings. Compared to conventional constructions, this technology can save more than 30% of CO2 emissions in the building construction. According to Tech Cluster Zug AG, the office building will be the first high-rise in the world to be built using this technology.

Construction is scheduled to start in May next year, and should be completed by April 2028. The VZ Depotbank has already acquired the building, which it will then use as its new company headquarters.

In addition to the office building, the construction of a 60-metre-high residential tower is planned from 2029. It is not yet clear whether the ETH spin-off's innovative concrete elements will also be used in this project. The Tech Cluster development plan provides for an architectural competition for every building with a height of more than 30 metres.

Large-scale construction project
Creatower I is part of a comprehensive development of the Tech Cluster Zug. What will almost be a new district of Zug will be created on the site of the traditional V-Zug factory, by 2046.
