The convertible bar in the garden of Industrie 45

A flexible approach is more important than ever these days: the guidelines and measures for curbing the spread of the coronavirus are constantly being changed and adapted. And this is a challenge for the Youth Culture Centre (Jugendkulturzentrum) Industry 45 in Zug that must be overcome. "We realised relatively soon that we could not rely on stable, permanent regulations, which is why absolute flexibility is required," explains Raphael Häfliger, the communications manager.

Promoting interactions with young people through cultural events is a priority for Industry 45. This is how the idea of the "Lock Up Bar" was born. The first version appeared as early as the end of May, at that time still without any on-site entertainment. "That's why we came up with the idea of spacing the tables apart with sufficient social distancing, offering disposable games, and not broadcasting the DJ-sets on-site, but via a live stream, first from home and later from the room next door," says Häfliger.

The bar equipment can be used in a flexible way
The flexible concept now goes into the next round on the coming Friday. The "Lock Up Bar" is located in the garden, the so-called ‘Backyard’ of Industry 45. The bar equipment can be used very flexibly: on the forecourt, in the garden, in the concert hall or in the club. "The entire inventory can be cleaned and disinfected very easily," adds Raphael Häfliger. Drinks are served from the mobile circus waggon, and a barbecue is available, where food that you have brought along can be grilled. "Contact details must be stored for each visitor in any case, and these are kept for two weeks," says Raphael Häfliger.

New regulations in the canton of Zug
The team checks out the security concept almost every week, and makes minor adjustments where necessary. Häfliger also sees communication with guests as an important point.

"In extreme cases, we must also turn away guests in  a friendly manner when the maximum number of visitors is reached."

New directives have been in force in the canton of Zug since the beginning of this week. "The biggest challenge with these new regulations in Zug is that we could theoretically manage up to 100 guests in good weather. But as soon as the operation has to be moved indoors, only 30 people will be permitted." They will therefore generally try not to exceed the number of 30 guests for the bar operation.

A table reservation via www.i45.ch or by e-mail is recommended.
