The canton now has its own beefburger
Say hello to the official “Zuger Burger”.
The canton of Zug is now has its very own burger, officially launched by the local authorities. Thomas Wiederkehr, head of the Cantonal Office for Agriculture (Landwirtschaftsamt Kanton Zug), is quoted as saying: “The idea behind the ‘Zuger Burger’ is as simple as it is convincing – local ingredients, crafted by hand, from the canton, for the canton.”
And he’s not exaggerating. The beef comes 100% from cattle raised on Zug’s pastures, while the bun is baked with organic flour grown in local fields.
The vision? That this burger will soon find its way into butchers’ shops and restaurants right across the canton.
It's also a clever play on the name of Zug's local mountain: the 'Zugerberg'.
The first chance to try the “Zuger Burger” will be at the Stierenmärt (Zug’s traditional bull market fair), which begins on Wednesday, 10th September.
Until then, the “Zuger Burger” has already earned the title of Zug’s tastiest highlight of the day. En Guete! (Enjoy!)
