Tanzfest Zug is up and running

Presentations related to the ‘Tanzfest’ will take place all over Switzerland over the weekend. Zug also has a lot to offer to dance lovers.

On Friday evening, the Tanzfest Zug 2023 (Zug dance festival) officially kicked off at the theatre of the Casino Zug with "dance appetisers" from Zug dance schools. ‘Tänzerische Appetithäppchen’ (dance appetisers) is a new platform that gives promising dance talent from among Zug's dance students the opportunity to present themselves in a professional setting, and thereby gain their first experience with an audience.

The "appetisers" were presented in various unexpected locations within the Theatre Casino, according to the website for the event. The interested audience was enticed to first take a short walk through the building.

This was immediately followed by the "Local Stage" on the big stage. Here the "who's who" of the professional dance scene in Central Switzerland performed short excerpts from their choreographic oeuvre.

Participation is encouraged on Saturday and Sunday
The dance festival will continue over the weekend, and dance events are also planned for Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 May. On Saturday, for example, there will be an inclusive dance class with "DanceAbility" (from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Festsaal of the Theatre Casino Zug). DanceAbility is open to all people aged 14 and over, regardless of their background in dance and movement.

"Dance under the Stars" will take place this year at two romantic locations on Lake Zug, where anyone who feels like it can dance. Firstly, there will be jive at Badi Seeliken (Seelikon lido, by the Zug Casino) from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and secondly, there will be line dancing at ‘Quai Pasa Buvette’ on the Alpenquai in Zug (8.15 p.m. to 10.15 p.m.). The jive crash course will only take place in dry weather, while the line dance crash course will be moved to the Skippy Dancers dance room (Sumpfstrasse 24, Steinhausen) in case of bad weather.

Sunday will be dedicated to "Unidentical Twins". This programme item was newly and explicitly developed for "Das Tanzfest Zug 2023". Six professional dancers and six professional musicians from Central Switzerland have joined forces for this. The aim is to promote dance and the music scene in Central Switzerland. (7.30 to 9 p.m., Theatre Casino Zug).

Similar events are also taking place in Lucerne, Schwyz and Uri.
