Suspected burglars arrested

Following a burglary in Rotkreuz, the two suspected perpetrators were arrested a short time later by border guards. The emergency services were able to recover the stolen property.

On the night of Saturday, March 14, two men broke open a vending machine and cash machine on a farm in Rotkreuz and stole sausages and several hundred francs in cash, according to a report from the Zug police. On Saturday morning, however, the suspected burglars were arrested after a check by the border guard at the St. Margrethen (Sankt Gallen) border crossing and were then handed over to the Zug police. The stolen property was found in the men's car and was seized.

The two arrested men, 32 and 39 years old, are Romanian citizens. They were brought before the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug, which opened a criminal investigation for theft, property damage and trespassing, and filed an application to have them remanded in custody. It is now being clarified whether the arrested suspects could have also been involved in other similar crimes in addition to the burglary in Rotkreuz.
