Survey regarding the local housing situation

What is the housing situation in Hünenberg? The Hünenberg Social Democratic Party (SP) wanted to find out, and recently carried out a survey. Eighty-two people participated – and provided a clear message. The results were presented last Thursday evening, and show that action is needed in Hünenberg.
 

The survey conducted by the Hünenberg SP revealed that while 52% were satisfied with their current housing situation, concerns are growing: 24% fear rising rents, and 8% already feel their rent is too high.

The situation with regard to the housing market was even clearer, with 87% finding it very difficult to find affordable housing. At the same time, 87% also said that rents in Hünenberg are very high.

The demand on the municipality was correspondingly clear: 92% wanted more commitment to affordable housing. This includes measures such as more cooperative housing, granting building rights to land, and the municipality actively acquiring land and real estate.

61% also see a need for action regarding protection against evictions,  while 82% also supported binding targets for a certain percentage of affordable housing by 2035.

Particularly striking: all the participants in the survey advocated for more affordable housing options for seniors. And 92% want the municipality to promote non-profit and cooperative housing construction on its own land.

The survey's message is therefore unequivocal: Hünenberg needs more affordable housing – and the municipality should take action.

The results were discussed at the information event. Jessica Gauch, a lawyer and candidate for the cantonal government, also presented various practical solutions. She highlighted the Social Democratic Party's (SP) housing fund initiative as a key solution, which would create a cantonal fund of CHF 750 million for permanently affordable housing at cost-based rents. “Zug has the resources to make housing affordable for everyone here; we just need to put them to use,” she added.
