Student primary school teacher of Young Green Liberal Party seeks election to parliament in Bern

A student primary school teacher from Baar, a member of board of the Young Green Liberal Party (JGLP) of Zug, is seeking election to parliament in Bern this autumn. In an interview with a journalist of the Zuger Zeitung, she outlined her reasons.

“I decided to stand because it is time things started moving and because new blood is needed in parliament,” she said, adding how she had lots of energy and ideas.

It was only natural that as a trainee primary school teacher, education was a matter close to her heart. “I hope to provide pupils taught by me with a good education,” she said, calling at the same time for equal opportunities for all, for up-to-date syllabi and modern school systems. Then she feels protection of the environment is an issue which needs greater emphasis both at school, and for individuals. What is more, she wants an extended public transport network with fair fares, so everyone can benefit.

As to how she felt about her chances of being elected, she said that she realised these were limited, her not having served on a council or been a member of the cantonal parliament. Nevertheless, she would like to represent and promote the JGLP.

When the 22-year-old Allenwinden- resident was asked why she herself should be elected, she said that she had often heard it said that much of politics was just flannel, but she would like to convince the electorate that this was not the case, and that they could trust her.
