Storm front over Canton Zug on Monday night
The canton of Zug was hit by the storm front on Monday evening. “The damage to property is enormous,” wrote the Zug Police in a statement on Tuesday morning. The fire brigade and police were in constant action, with around 60 reports coming in to the Emergency Operations Centre.
Basements and garages were flooded in Cham, and the storm also uprooted trees and broke branches. Some construction barriers were also blown over. The Hagendorn district was affected in particular. Tress fell onto parked cars on the Gewerbestrasse and the St. Jakobsstrasse in Cham.
The roof of a house in the Letzi area of the City of Zug was damaged when a tree fell onto it. Trees also fell onto a number of parked cars in the harbour area and on the Chamerstrasse. The Zug fire brigade also had to clear fallen trees and broken branches from the roads in other parts of the city.

The wind caused parts of a scaffolding to collapse on the Aabachstrasse, burying three cars beneath it. According to the police, the damage to property was extensive.
Parts of a scaffolding also collapsed on the Bachweg in Oberägeri, and the police were called out because of fallen trees in Baar.
Fortunately, no one was injured in any of the incidents on Monday evening, according to the police. The damage to property cannot yet be quantified, but is said to be considerable. Several vehicles in the canton were written off after trees fell on them.
