Station evacuated due to suspicious objects

Suspicious objects kept the police busy on Tuesday evening. The station had to be temporarily evacuated.

On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 4.15 p.m., a passerby found a suspicious object at the Lucerne railway station. The police viewed the surveillance images, which showed that an unknown man had left an object in front of the lockers and another in a locker.

The police then blocked off part of the station, including access between tracks 10 to 15. With the help of a robot, experts from the Zurich Forensic Institute were able to defuse the objects, which turned out to be harmless, as the police wrote in a communiqué.

It is not yet known what the objects were. The shut-down was able to be lifted shortly after 8 p.m. , and the investigation into the unknown man is ongoing.

Train cancellations and restrictions occurred, especially between Lucerne and Allmend / Lucerne Fair (Messe).
