Standing up for Christian values - Eveline-Liliane Wuethrich of the EVP party

Eveline-Liliane Wüthrich is a specialist healthcare worker from in Unterägeri who is standing for a seat in the National Council in elections which take place in just under four weeks’ time.

She is standing not just for election herself but to help her party, the Protestant People’s Party (EVP) send a representative from Zug to Bern for the first time.

As to three core issues important to her, she mentioned she would be standing for more humaneness, whether this affects old people or the young. Indeed, she is calling for comprehensive palliative care as an alternative to assisted suicide in addition to upholding Christian identity and values.

As to how the 40-year-old felt her chances of election were, she admitted that, as she was not so well known, these were rather slim.

In fact, she said it was not so important whether she, herself, were elected or not as one of the reasons for her standing was to ensure the EVP party enjoyed greater prominence in the canton. “And if I can help achieve this through standing, then so much the better,” she said.
