The three-storey modular building is expected to be ready for occupancy at the beginning of 2023. It has already been used in the canton of Lucerne as a temporary home for the elderly.
The canton of Zug is creating more space for refugees from Ukraine. For example, a three-storey second-hand modular building has been acquired, as the Zug Building Directorate writes in a media release. With a usable area of 6,000 square metres, it will offer space for a total of 410 women, children and men from Ukraine.
The three-storey building has already been used as the temporary home of a retirement home in the canton of Lucerne. It has various rooms sanitary facilities, ancillary and recreation rooms as well as kitchen, laundry and operating rooms.

The building will be located in Zug or Cham. According to the Building Directorate, two suitable plots of land are being evaluated for this purpose. One is located in the Outer Lorzenallmend in Zug and the other in the Röhrliberg in the municipality of Cham, according to the message. Where the modular building will ultimately stand will be decided in the course of the next process step.
On Thursday morning, the Directorate of the Interior already announced that new places for Ukraine refugees will be created in the north wing of the old cantonal hospital on Artherstrasse 110.
