Single-vehicle accident leads to follow-up accident

A car driver crashed on the motorway near Cham and lost a front wheel. A subsequent driver saw this too late and collided with the wheel.

A single-vehicle accident occurred on the A4 motorway near Cham in the direction of Zurich early on Tuesday morning, 20 April, according to the Zug police. A driver collided with an impact damper at the Blegi junction, causing his vehicle to lose the right front wheel. The 41-year-old was fortunately uninjured, but his car had to be towed away, and his driver's license was confiscated on the spot.

A short time later, another motorist approached the accident site on the overtaking lane in the direction of Zurich, where the complete wheel lost in the single-vehicle accident was lying. The driver only noticed this too late and collided with the wheel. The 47-year-old was slightly injured in the accident and was taken to hospital by the Zug ambulance service.

The damage to the vehicles and the motorway infrastructure amounts to several thousand francs. Employees of the Zug ambulance service, a private towing company, the Centras and the Zug police were on duty.
