Several trees in prominent locations to be felled
According to the local administration, the plants are no longer "stable" or at the end of their "life cycle".
Tree felling, with subsequent replacement planting, will be necessary in the following places in the coming weeks:
- Landsgemeindeplatz Schiffanlegestelle. According to the city of Zug, two lime trees are severely damaged and will have to be replaced. The tree pits will also be renewed before planting, so that the new trees can grow optimally.
- Tennis club Riedmatt: A spruce and a poplar are so badly damaged that they will have to be felled. "The neighbouring trees will fill the gaps in the forest-like situation here."
- Oberwiler Kirchweg: The dense planting on the municipal property here will be thinned out "so that the individual trees can develop better".
In addition, numerous cases of thinning and cutting work will be carried out on the hedges of school buildings, playgrounds and along water bodies. "Furthermore, the damage caused to trees and shrubs by last summer's storm winds will also be repaired."
