Road works to start on Hinterburgstrasse today

The Cantonal Department of Planning has announced that road works on Hinterburgstrasse are to start today, Monday 14 October, with the Baarerstrasse-Edlibachstrasse section to be closed to all vehicular traffic from Monday 21 October until a non-specified date in December.

Part of the work on Hinterburgstrasse involves the construction of a pavement along the whole of its length, with visibility for road users enhanced at the same time, this in addition to other ancillary work such as improved resurfacing and drainage. Indeed, the work will ensure the nearby Hintermühlibach brook does not flood.

In order to keep the period of work as short as possible, it has been decided, as mentioned, to close the Baarerstrasse- Edlibachstrasse section of Hinterburgstrasse from Monday 21 October until a non-specified date in December. During these weeks several groups of workmen will be deployed at the same time, without having to be interrupted by passing traffic. A detour for drivers between Edlibach and Neuheim/ Baar will be clearly indicated.

Even after the road is reopened, an alternating one-way traffic-flow controlled by traffic lights will be in operation with further periods of closure necessary at times due to this work which is not expected to be completed until the summer of 2020; a precise date cannot be given at present as some of the work, such as resurfacing, is dependent on good weather.

Bus passengers using the Falken and Hinterburg stops on the 31 route will also be affected, more precise information being posted in advance at the stops themselves.
