City of Zug, 15.10.2020

Risk of traffic jams over several months

Construction work for utility lines and road works will begin on the Industriestrasse and the Göblistrasse from next Monday, 19 October. Traffic jams and longer waiting times are to be expected

According to a statement from the City of Zug, the works will affect the sections from the Göblistrasse to the Grienbachstrasse and/or the Industriestrasse to the Baarerstrasse. The main reason for the construction work is the laying of utility lines for district heating and the associated power plant.

The city of Zug also announced that the Industriestrasse/Göblistrasse junction and the V-Zug AG bus stops will be renewed and expanded to be free of obstacles at the same time. During the construction period, which will last until the opening of the Baar/Zug Tangente, there will traffic hindrance. The opening is scheduled for the summer of 2021.

The fire brigade must be able to pass
A complete closure of the Industrial and Göblistrasse was not possible "due to the lack of options for diversions and the queues that are thereby to be expected within the transport network". The exit road of the Zug Fire Brigade also leads to the Göblistrasse, and must remain accessible. The construction work will therefore be carried out in stages. The traffic management will involve a one-way regime and will be provided with a traffic service and the addition of traffic lights with priority for buses and blue light vehicles.
