Rigistrasse to become a one-way road for a week

From 30 April to 6 May, a new surface will be laid between the Baar exit of the Rigistrasse and the Tangent roundabout.

If you’re planning to drive from Baar to Inwil between 6 p.m. on 30 April and 6 May, you will have to make use of the Zugerstrasse, the Baarerstrasse and the Industriestrasse, as well as the already open section of the Zug/Baar ‘Tangente’ (bypass). According to a announcement from the municipality of Baar, the reason is the laying of a new surface on the Rigistrasse, from the Baar exit (junction to the Rote Trotte) up to the Tangente roundabout in Inwil.

In the opposite direction – from Inwil to Baar – the Rigistrasse will remains open to traffic during the entire construction period. Only the buses of the Zugerland transport companies will be able to run in both directions. A traffic service will deal with the traffic when a ZVB bus runs from Baar towards Inwil.

The section is too long for traffic lights
According to the announcement, renovation work has been taking place on the Rigistrasse since 22 March, and the traffic has been controlled by a light signal system, in alternating one-way traffic between the sections. This traffic regime was suitable for the removal of the existing road surface and for the construction of an infiltration area for road wastewater., "For quality reasons", however, the new surface must now be laid continuously over the entire roadway, which makes the complete closure necessary, first of one roadway, and then the other. "The 450 metre long section between Baar and Inwil is too long for single-lane traffic with a light signal system."
