Restaurant Degen to re-open on 2nd June
A new era is beginning at the traditional restaurant in the village centre. "Cosy, yet modern," is how the owners describe the interior. Cédric Blesi and Marc Ruck will be taking care of the guests.
The floor is still covered and the furniture is missing - but that will soon change. The final touches are being made at Restaurant Degen in Hünenberg before the grand re-opening on 2nd June. As is known, Patrick Wismer, the founder of the Hello World restaurant chain, has taken over the lease after the long-time proprietors, the Girstmair couple, left last December.
The new owners, Max and Monika Bütler from Hünenberg See, have extensively renovated and refreshed the restaurant in the village centre over the past few months. "Cosy, yet modern," is how they describe the interior design. A picture on the wall is a reminder of the old "Degen" restaurant, and a photo mural shows an aerial view of Hünenberg See and the village of Hünenberg. "The restaurant is meant to create a sense of community and fit in with Hünenberg," says Monika Bütler. The restaurant has around 120 seats, and the main hall can be split up. The outdoor terrace can accommodate another 120 guests.

Traditional cuisine with a modern twist
The new landlords are Cédric Blesi (35) and Marc Ruck (36), while Erwin Waldispühl is in charge of the kitchen. A team of six to eight people completes the "Degen" team. Cédric Blesi and Marc Ruck know each other from earlier; both come from the Freiamt municipality of Dietwil, and previously worked in other roles for the "Hello World" chain. Chef Erwin Waldispühl is the son of Cornelia Waldispühl, who once ran the traditional Hünenberg restaurant herself.
Guests will be offered "traditional cuisine with a modern twist," as the new owners describe it. The restaurant will be open continuously from mid-morning onwards, but will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. The grand re-opening will be celebrated on Tuesday, 2nd June. From 4 pm onwards, there will be appetisers and drinks.
Regular dining at the "Degen" will begin on 3rd June. Reservations can already be made via the website: https://restaurantdegen.ch/.
