Reports from the Zug police

A driver damaged a parked car and then threatened the owner with a knife. The man was later arrested.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening (July 20, 2021), about 10:15 p.m., in front of a property on the Hinterbergstrasse in the municipality of Steinhausen. A 26-year-old man drove his car backwards out of a parking lot and thereby damaged a parked vehicle. The person who caused the accident then left the scene of the accident on foot, but returned a short time later.

The owner of the damaged car, who had observed the incident from a balcony, then confronted the fallible driver. The latter denied having caused the damage, however, and again left the scene of the accident, before re-appearing a few minutes later with a pocket knife in his hand, screaming and shouting threats at the owner of the damaged car. Together with two colleagues, the latter was able to retreat to a safe location and locked the entrance door to the apartment building behind them. The aggressor then tried to gain access by force, breaking a pane of the double glazing. He then got into his car and drove away.

The 26-year-old Turk was arrested by the police a little later at his place of residence, also in the municipality of Steinhausen. The on-call prosecutor ordered a blood and urine sample to be taken in the hospital. After interrogation, the accused was released from police custody during the course of Wednesday.

Cham: on e-bikes on the motorway with stolen goods

Two suspected thieves were observed riding e-bikes on the motorway in the early hours of the morning, and fled when they saw the police. One of them was arrested a short time later. Further investigations are ongoing.

Early Tuesday morning (20 July 2021), shortly before 04:30 a.m., the Zug Police Operations Control Centre received a report that there were two cyclists on the A4 motorway, between the Blegi and Affoltern am Albis junctions. When the police patrol was seen by the two men, they climbed over a game fence and ran into the directly adjacent wood in the direction of Knonau (ZH).

They left the two e-bikes, a smartphone, several pairs of glasses, electrical appliances and electrical accessories on the breakdown lane.

The immediately initiated investigations led the police to a property in Urdorf, Canton Zurich. One of the men, a 32-year-old Algerian, was subsequently arrested there by the Zurich Cantonal Police. More pairs of glasses and burglary utensils were found with him.

The investigation into the stolen goods and the second man is ongoing.
