Renovation work on the Untermühlestrasse

The second stage of the renovation work on the Untermühlestrasse in Cham will start next week. This will affect the section from Langacker, the Knonauerstrasse intersection to the Lorzenbridge / road to the ARA and civil protection facility. The renovation work will cause minor restrictions for road users.

The Untermühlestrasse in Cham is in need of renovation, and the necessary work will be carried out in two stages. The first stage, from the Sinserstrasse to the Lorzen bridge (Lorzenbrücke) has already been completed. According to the media release of the municipality of Cham, the renovation of the second stage, i.e. the section from the Lorzen Bridge to the Knonauerstrasse intersection, is now starting. The renovation measures will begin on 26 September 2022, and are expected to last until the end of the year.

They include both civil engineering and plant management work. The vehicle crash barrier will also be replaced in accordance with the latest regulations. The work of the final road surface will be completed in the summer of 2023 during a full closure lasting two-days. The total costs for the renovation of the 2nd stage amount to around CHF 470,000.

The permissible driving speed on Untermühlestrasse will be reduced to 60 km/h during the construction period for safety reasons, and traffic will be led past the construction site by means of a traffic light system. The walkway for pedestrians will remain accessible with minor restrictions throughout the construction period.
