Possible wolf sighting in Oberägeri
A wolf may have been spotted in the Morgarten area near Oberägeri. The canton advises herd protection measures.
Based on a tip-off, it cannot be ruled out that a lone wolf is on the move in the municipality of Oberägeri in the Morgarten region, as the Office for Forests and Game (Amt für Wald und Wild) of Canton Zug announced on Friday morning. The report of the possible sighting of the large carnivore cannot be verified, however.
Nevertheless, the canton is calling on livestock farmers to take herd protection measures. Information on dealing with wolves can be found, in German, on the website of the Zug Office for Forests and Game:
In the event of an attack on animals by a wolf, the game warden (Wildhut) must be contacted immediately.
The last time a wolf was spotted in the canton of Zug was in the spring of this year. A video recorded at the time showed an animal on Baar soil. (https://www.zugerzeitung.ch/zentralschweiz/zug/grossraubtier-alarm-im-kanton-zug-leser-filmt-wolf-in-baar-ld.2600486)
