Pension fund awarded building rights on the An der Aa site

In partnership with the canton, Zugerland Public Transport (ZVB) has developed the 4,647-square-metre An der Aa site in the city. The Zug Pension Fund will now be able to develop a part of it.

The planning for the development of the An der Aa site in the city of Zug has been underway for more than 15 years. Last March, 81.3% of voters approved the development plan. Zugerland Public Transport (ZVB: Zugerland Verkehrsbetriebe), which owns the majority of the site, plans to build new infrastructure for its headquarters there, as both it and the Zug Emergency Services require more space.

The ZVB also states on its project website that the underground garages will free up a significant amount of space – a total of 8,400 square metres. The ZVB is leasing this northern building plot under a building lease agreement, and the Zug Pension Fund (Zuger Pensionskasse) has been awarded the contract, as announced jointly by ZVB and the Pension Fund.

Two new buildings planned
A "vibrant urban quarter" is planned, where living, socialising, working, and services will "come together in a harmonious whole." In order to make this "diverse" quarter a reality, the ZVB is proposing a 40% quota of affordable housing on the project website.

Two new buildings are planned for the current company premises, and the Pension Fund anticipates at least 160 apartments, in addition to office and service space.

n the next step, the Zug Pension Fund will commission a feasibility study and further develop the project in collaboration with invited architectural firms.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2031.
