Pedestrian on pavement hit by car

A car hit a pedestrian on the pavement in Baar on Monday. She was flown to the hospital by Rega, but succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

The accident happened on the Dorfstrasse in Allenwinden just before 1 pm on Monday afternoon. A 23-year-old motorist travelling uphill lost control of his vehicle immediately after the "Winzrüti" junction. The pick-up vehicle crossed the road, crashed into the "Egg" bus shelter on the left, and hit a woman on the pavement there before colliding with a street lamp.

After initial medical treatment by the Zug ambulance service, the 54-year-old pedestrian was flown to a hospital in a neighbouring canton by a Rega helicopter. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries on the same day, according to a report from the Zug Police on Monday afternoon.

The pedestrian suffered life-threateningly injuries, and was flown to hospital by a Rega helicopter.

The exact cause of the accident is the subject of further investigation, according to the police. Evidence was secured at the scene of the accident by the forensic service of the Zug Police, and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Zug ordered a blood and urine sample in the hospital from the driver of the vehicle.

The Dorfstrasse through Allenwinden had to be closed for the rescue and the securing of evidence. Members of the Baar fire brigade, as well as employees of the Zug ambulance service, a Rega helicopter, a private towing company and the Zug police were deployed.
