Baar: Unallowed and dangerous driving while covered in snow

On Monday afternoon, a police patrol stopped a van that was traveling with a heavy snow load on its roof. The driver was charged by the police, and had to remove the snow before continuing his journey.

On Monday afternoon (13 December 2021), a patrol of the Zug police noticed a that was driving van on the A14 motorway from Sihlbrugg in the direction of Zug with a large amount of snow on its roof. The vehicle was thereby stopped and checked at the Baar motorway exit. The emergency services found that the wet snow on the roof of the van was around 40 cm deep.

The 61-year-old driver was charged, and had to free his vehicle from the snow before continuing his journey.

The Zug police thereby appeal to road users to show personal responsibility. In order to prevent serious accidents, sufficient time must be allowed to completely clear snow and ice from the vehicle before driving.

Falling snow masses or blocks of ice can hit other vehicles or block the roadway, which can lead to dangerous situations or even accidents. Lights, side mirrors and rear-reflectors must also be clean, and the license plate must be clearly legible.
