"On suspicion dial 117"
In an operation that runs until February, the police want to combat burglary in Central Switzerland. The police thereby rely on information from the public, and offer free consultations.
On the occasion of the "National Day of Burglary Protection" (Nationalen Tag des Einbruchsschutzes) on 26 October, the Central Swiss Police Concordat, headed by the Cantonal Police Zurich, together with other police concordats, are launching the "In case of suspicion, dial 117 - Together against burglars" (Bei Verdacht Tel. 117- Gemeinsam gegen Einbrecher) campaign. In a press release, the Central Swiss Police Concordat calls on the public to report suspicious activities. Suspicious observations include, for example:
- Unknown people wandering around the neighbourhood.
- Unknown vehicles that drive through the neighbourhood "on the look-out".
- Unusual sounds, such as the clink of window panes or the splintering of wood.

In addition, the police offer free burglary protection advice, which includes measures to reduce the risk of burglary. Further information can be obtained on the website of the Association of Safe Living in Switzerland (Verbandes Sicheres Wohnen Schweiz) and of crime prevention(Kriminalprävention).
The campaign will last until the end of February 2021.
