OiI on the Knonauerstrasse causes traffic obstructions

On Thursday evening, shortly before 5 pm, the dispatch control centre of the Zug Police received a report that an oil spill had been detected on Knonauerstrasse. The first clarifications of a patrol on site showed that the reported pollution came from a delivery van, according to a statement from the Zug law enforcement agencies. The 30-year-old driver had also noticed the oil loss, and had parked his vehicle.

As a result, the Knonauerstrasse had to be closed in both directions until 8 pm, leading to increased traffic on the adjacent road network.

In order to bind the spilled oil and to clean the road, the fire brigades of Steinhausen and Knonaueramt Süd, as well as several cleaning machines, were in use. In addition to the cleaning work on the street, a sewer manhole also had to be pumped out by a sewer cleaning company.

The reason for the loss of oil on the delivery van has now been clarified. A damaged diesel filter was apparently responsible for this.
